How Can I Help?

Here is a list of various projects you and your family can participate in to help those in need.

"Seeds of Hope" for Clearwater & Jefferson Elementary Schools

We are helping to provide the following items for these two elementary schools to have on hand for students when needs arise:  baby wipes, hand sanitizer, deodorant, children's belts, children's socks, book bags, underwear, clothing (all sizes & seasons, and may be gently used), colored pencils, markers, poster board & construction paper.  Items may be dropped off in the church foyer at any time.  Look for the "Seeds of Hope" box.

Individuals are also needed who would be willing to help out in situations which require immediate attention - such as purchasing a few groceries, providing a space heater, providing a fan, etc.  These situations would be direct requests from one of the schools.  If you would like to be added to the "emergency contact list" contact Jennifer New.

Brown Bags for the Hungry

During the recent holiday season approximately 2000 lbs (that's a ton!) of food was donated to VOICE, a local agency which helps those in need.  Thanks to Midland Valley Christian Academy & Daycare, whose students and parents donated about 800 lbs of that total!

There is an ongoing need for families in our own neighborhoods who are going without a meal. We will continue to help our local facilities, which house food lockers for those needing assistance, keep food on their shelves for distribution.  Take a brown bag (with gold list) from the foyer, fill it with items from list provided, then return the filled bag to the church. The bags will be collected and delivered to the food banks for distribution to those in need.

If you would like to volunteer to help with this ministry contact Sandra Waddell (803-648-6604 or swaddell123@hotmail.com)

Helping the Homeless

We want to show the love of Christ by helping provide a little comfort to the homeless in our local area. Local facilities house the homeless (men, women & children) daily, and we want to provide some basic items to help during the cold weather. You can help by purchasing items and/or being a part of the delivery team.

Pick up a brown bag, along with a suggestion list, from the foyer.  Fill the bag with items from one of the three lists (man, woman, child) provided, and return the filled bag to the church. The bags will be collected and a team will deliver them directly to the homeless in our area.  Larger blankets and used clothing in good condition can also be donated to the shelters.

December 2, a group of about 10 people, visited Mt. Salem. They took some soup, sandwiches, cookies and water, served the men their meal and distributed 19 bags to the men at the shelter.   Monthly visits are being planned to local shelters and you can be a part of that, too.  The next scheduled visits are
Saturday, January 14 - Salvation Army, located at 604 Park Avenue, Aiken, SC.  Meet there at 12 pm to help serve lunch and distribute bags.
Saturday, January 21 - Mt. Salem.  Volunteers are need to prepare soup, rolls, desserts and drinks for this visit.

Please contact Amber Taylor (803-617-8731 or Jacobsmommi04@hotmail.com) if you would like to be a part of either of these 2 visits.

Angel Tree

Thank you!  All of the angels from the tree were "adopted", and many children had wonderful Christmas gifts because of your love.  Look for this tree to return in November 2012.  Contact Christina Gunter (cdgunter06@att.net) if you would like to help with the organization and/or management of this ministry.
