Changes to our regular schedule of services and small groups:
For many in our area, the holiday season is not as happy or festive as they would like. There are many ways we can reach out to others during this season. Please take time to read through, then reach out and help.
"Surviving the Holidays" Grief Share Group - Thanksgiving and Christmas... They're supposed to make us think of words like thankful, merry and happy, right? But what if death, divorce, or distance causes us to associate the holidays with words and feelings like depression, anxiety and stress? This group meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm in the Family Ministries Center, and is open to everyone.
Blood Drive - Sunday Morning, November 23, 8 am - 1 pm
Two bloodmobiles will be parked outside our sanctuary to receive blood donations which are desperately needed this time of year. As a thank you to donors during this drive, Sheppeard Community Blood Center is giving away vouchers for a free movie ticket to each donor.
Hats, Coats and blankets for the Homeless: As winter nears, help show the love of Christ by giving to those less fortunate. We will be collecting hats, coats and small blankets to be distributed to the homeless in our local area. Look for the large drop box in the upper parking lot.
Angel Tree: Angel Tree is simple, it’s easy, and it shares the Gospel message to a parent and their child. Simply look for the tree in the foyer, take an Angel, buy and wrap gifts for a boy or girl and let God do the rest.
Operation Christmas Child: Pack a box, fill it full of love and prayers and wrap it up. Boys and girls in over 130 countries will experience God’s love through the power of a simple shoebox filled with gifts. A group will be going to the processing center in Charlotte, NC, Saturday, December 6 to deliver boxes and work a shift preparing boxes for shipment. If interested in making this trip, contact the church office for more info.
Thanksgiving Meals: Help provide a meal for shut-ins and those less fortunate on Thanksgiving day. Meals will be prepared and delivered Thanksgiving day starting at 8 am in the FMC kitchen. We need volunteers to cook, prepare and deliver meals as well as food and cash donations.
Food Collection: We will be collecting canned goods for Golden Harvest Food Bank. This food will be distributed to food pantries. Look for the large drop box in the upper parking lot. No glass or baby food please.
For more information about any of these opportunities, please contact the church office.
