Several years ago some of our men began doing repairs on homes for people who were physically or financially unable. The experience was so rewarding that Contracting for Christ was born. The altruistic ministry is so remarkable that it has been written about in several newspapers. Recipients of this generosity don't have to be members or even attendees of the church.
Fixing up our neighbor’s homes
Upon recommendation of a project, a committee evaluates the need and the Contracting for Christ leadership determines a project scope that can be successfully completed on time. A project leader is chosen and a date is scheduled and announced. Anyone may volunteer to help with the completion of the project.
While working, we are always on the lookout for opportunities to share our deep joy in Christ with the recipient family or other neighbors. One of these occasions for sharing is when we stop for lunch.
As an adjunct ministry, the Chuck Wagon comes at mid-day bringing lunch for everyone at the work site. These folks not only prepare and serve a delicious meal, but linger to share their perspective of Christ’s love with the recipient family members.
